Entry to Mutawintji Historic Site is by guided tour only. Go on a Mutawintji Heritage Tour and find out about the ceremonies and mythologies of the local Mutawintji people from the Mutawintji people themselves. Tours are also available from other tour operators - contact the Broken Hill Tourist Information Centre for more details. Please note that the time given is EST. Duration: 3 hours Level of difficulty: Medium Meeting Point: Tours leave from the Mutawintji National Park campsite. Cost: $20 adult, $5 children, $40 family (2 adults 2 children).

Your Discovery Ranger will tell you about both the natural and human history of the park. Take a stroll around part of the lake’s edge and witness the life that water has brought to this internationally recognised wetland. Bring a hat, sunscreen, sturdy shoes and water.

For the past 11 years the Silver City Bush Treadlers have been holding an annual bicycle ride to raise much needed funds for the RFDS.
In 2008, our 80th anniversary year, the Silver City Bush Treadlers Inc. are planning an epic ride of 3718kms from Broken Hill to Darwin, reenacting the ride made by Frederick Blakeley and the O'Neil brothers in 1908.
The cycle starts from Broken Hill on 6 July 8am from the Town Square, then travels via White Cliffs, Milparinka, Lyndhurst, Marree, arriving in Alice Springs on 2 August. It then leaves Alice on 5 August for Darwin, arriving 22 August. The name of the ride is Corella/Crocodile Dare and the team will stay at Mount Dare for a rest day. A shorter two week ride is also available where cyclists will leave the group at Hawkers gate to cycle back to Broken Hill. 20 cyclists will do the shorter ride while 50 will undertake the full journey to Darwin.

Join local Discovery Rangers for a guided walk around the old Kinchega Homestead billabong and learn about the history of the park and the significance of both its Aboriginal and European heritage. After your stroll, sit back, relax and join local Barkindtji Elders for billy tea and Johnny cakes and a chat about contemporary Barkindtji culture. Bring a hat, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, cup and chair.

Sit back and enjoy the ambience of an evening in the bush while taking a look at this wonderful collection of slides representing Kinchega National Park over the decades. Learn about mega fauna, Aboriginal custodianship, European explorers and the introduction of pastoralism to the area, a time which saw Kinchega become one of the dominant stations of the West Darling. This is a great opportunity to see how Kinchega has changed over the decades to become a special place, protected as a national park for future generations. Bring a cup and chair.
