The "MERRY JUNE BRONHILL"  touring Australia in 2012

A concert tribute in words and song to the great JUNE BRONHILL ! !

World premiere at the Broken Hill Civic Centre on
Saturday 4th February 2012

June Bronhill was an Australian icon of opera, operetta and musical theatre as well as comedy and television..
June was also the pioneer of morning music in Australia having been the first artist to perform and sellout two Melbourne concert hall performances in 1984, when her friend Betty Pounder rang her and asked if she would be interested in performing in a trial 11am concert....It was a resounding success and "Morning Melodies" was born.
Promac Productions has essentially written the June Bronhill Story: from her early days in Broken Hill ( hence Bronhill) to her stellar career in Europe, UK and Australia.
It's a fascinating narration of a young girl from Broken Hill travelling overseas, after her entire town had raised funds to get her there, making her debut for the Saddlers Wells Opera Company in London in "Marriage of Figaro" to becoming an overnight sensation for her portrayal as Maria in "The Sound of Music" in London's Westend and subsequently then triumphantly in Australia.

But we all know that it was Lehar's "The Merry Widow" that catapulted June right around the world and the beautiful "Vilia" was quickly dubbed world wide as...."June's Tune".
But that's not all...who can forget her hilarious portrayal as Mrs Slocom in the Australian television version of "Are You Being Served?" or clashing swords with Jon English in the Broadway version of "The Pirates of Penzance".

Performing in this show will be two superb collaratura sopranos, Alison Rae Jones and Angela Hogan - combined with narration by Chris McKenna and musical direction by Len Vorster.
