Gundabooka is of great significance for the Ngemba and Paakantji people. A rich Aboriginal heritage arises from the landscape's place in creation and ceremony. Ironwood, belah and white cypress pine and grey mallee too.

The park provides a safe haven for eight threatened bird species including the painted honeyeaters, brown treecreepers, hooded robins and pink cockatoos. Other creatures include pied bats and yellow-bellied sheathtail bats and the kultarr (a long-limbed, bounding, mouse-sized, nocturnal hunter of spiders and inserts).
